James McAvoy may rank pretty highly as one of Great Britain's most talented Hollywood actors, appearing in the X-Men franchise as everyone's favourite mutant Professor Charles Xavier, but we're betting many of his most ardent admirers have never seen him this terrifying. The Scot stars in the upcoming M. Night Shyamalan thriller Split, as a man plagued with multiple personality disorder, which means he inhabits up to 23 characters... one of whom decides to abduct three teenage girls.
Yeah, United States of Tara this ain't. The creepy thriller launched the first trailer yesterday and already it's garnering serious buzz for McAvoy and the film's director M. Night Shyamalan, who famously gifted us the twisty, turny classic The Sixth Sense, as well as The Village and Signs. Check it out below:
Split arrives in Australian theatres January 19, 2017.
