Seeing the iconic Disney castle (the studio logo) at the beginning of any trailer or movie immediately transports you to a magical, childlike, whimsical place ready to believe that miracles are real and nannies with flying umbrellas do exist. And so it is with the trailer for the long-awaited Mary Poppins Returns - the opening credits are pure Disney magic and the wonder continues from there.

Set in Depression-era London, the trailer opens with a grim, grey London scene, but you know something good is coming when an abandoned kite gets a second lease on life thanks to a gust of wind plucking it from the rubbish and pulling it into the sky. And then the 'something good' arrives in the silhouette of a well-dressed lady carrying a gravity-defying umbrella descending from the clouds.

"Mary Poppins it's wonderful to see you," say a grown-up Jane (played by Emily Mortimer) and Michael Banks (played by Ben Whishaw). "Yes it is, isn't it," responds a very confident Emily Blunt assuredly playing the greatest nanny character ever written.

The original 1964 Mary Poppins film starred silver screen legend Julie Andrews in the title role and from this first look at Emily Blunt as everyone's fave nanny we can tell it's the perfect casting call. Blunt has all the magic of Andrews and then some.

Along with Emily Blunt the movie is heavy with star power with Hamilton's Lin-Manuel Miranda, Meryl Streep, Colin Firth and Dick Van Dyke in the cast.
