The cult millennial show of the late'90s/early noughts celebrates a special birthday today - so we're giving you 19 reasons to get nostaligic

Can you believe it's been 19 years since the first episode of Sex and the City aired on HBO? Yep. Aside from making us feeling frighteningly old, for a certain subset of millennial women, SATC was (and still is) the definitive TV show of their era. I mean, to think I even shed a tear watching the final episode, I was that emotionally invested in the show. (Cringe.) Once the most risqué show on television, one can remember it airing from 9pm, so scandalous was the nudity and frank appraisal of sex. But compared to the violence, full-frontal nudity and drug use of cult TV shows like Game of Thrones and Breaking Bad that followed it, old Sex and the City isn't quite so immoral after all.

If you've ever caught a repeat of the show on TV, it's interesting to note what aspects of SATC have stood the test of time. The dialogue, for one, is still sharp and generally funny; but Carrie's famously copied outfits? Notsomuch. And while viewing SATC through the lens of 2017, it's funny to laugh at turn-of-the-millennium relics like answering machines, dial up internet, Fendi baguettes and flip phones - the dating and relationship dramas of Carrie, Charlotte, Samantha and Miranda are still, let's be honest - entertaining as hell.

So in honour of the show's 19th anniversary today (no, not those god awful movies) , we give you 19 of our favourite moments. So sit back, take in the fashion, relive the best quotes and get reminded of those hilarious celebrity cameos you forget about (ahem, Bradley Cooper).
