The last time we saw Larry David as his fictionalised self, he'd run off to  Paris with Leon (J.B. Smoove) to escape fulfilling an obligation to spend time with sick children. Well, is he back? Apparently so.

It's been a long almost-six years without Larry on our screens, but fear not, everyone's favourite pessimist has announced in spectacular form that he is set to return later this year.

The super-short video announcement sees Larry dressed impressively as Julius Cesar, and dropped along with news that Season 9 will also see the return of the series' regular characters, including JB Smooth, Jeff Garlin and Susie Essman. Ted Danson and Mary Steenburgen are also said to reprise their roles in the comedy to play fictionalised versions of themselves.

It's yet to be confirmed if the series' original writers, some who have gone on to become showrunners for Veep and  Silicon Valley will return to David's side. Check out the clip below, the series is set to return to American screens on HBO on October 1, hopefully this means Foxtel will also pick it up.

Update: Foxtel has announced it will premiere Season 9 of Curb Your Enthusiasm on October 2 at 8pm, express from the USA.

Pretty, pretty, pretty, pretty exciting: Guess who is coming back!
