If you haven't stumbled upon Charlie Brooker's dark masterpiece Black Mirror yet, we strongly urge you to update your Netflix preferences. The controversial series tackles the most sinister and macabre knock on effects of technology we've ever had the pleasure of seeing, with each season finding increasingly clever and twisted ways to play with the theme. A mix of sci-fi and dystopia, the series' power lies in how real some of the scenarios feel, even if the technology or environment is purely speculative. Be warned though: it's not for the faint of heart (Gilmore Girls fans, turn away).

While not a chronological series (each episode stands alone and the seasons can be viewed in any order), the most recent season of Black Mirror benefitted from a bigger budget and guest directors like Joe Wright (Atonement, Pride & Prejudice), but manage to maintain the tone and spot-on writing skills of creator Charlie Brooker. Now it seems the next instalment is near, with six new episodes previewed in a Netflix teaser trailer.

Even though details are scant, we know from some reports that one of the episodes is directed by Jodie Foster and stars like Jesse Plemons (Fargo, Breaking Bad), Rosemarie DeWitt (Mad Men, La La Land)  and Aussie Brenna Harding (Puberty Blues) are on board. While there's no exact date set for Season 4, all Netflix have said is that it's "coming soon". We expect that to mean sometime this year.
