They may only be whispers at the moment, but Deadline has it on good authority that director Quentin Tarantino's next film will be based around the infamous Charles Manson murders. And the actress said to be in talks with Tarantino to play Roman Polanski's ill-fated wife is none other than Australia's favourite ingénue Margot Robbie.

Luckily, the blonde and high-cheekboned Margot bears some physical similarity to the actress Sharon Tate, who was killed by members of the Manson cult in 1969 when she was eight months pregnant. The doe-eyed actress and model was brutally stabbed alongside four other friends on August 8, 1969 in her Los Angeles home by members of the Manson family. Operating under the orders of the now-notorious Charles Manson, the killing spree was said to be a retaliation to a failed recording contract.  The legendary murders have been the subject of many books, most recently inspiring Emma Cline's suspenseful 2016 novel The Girls.

While details of the project are scant, Deadline reporter Mike Fleming Jr says that long-time Tarantino collaborator Samuel L. Jackson is also attached to the film, as well as Brad Pitt (playing a detective) and even Jennifer Lawrence. In the hands of auteur Tarantino and with such a strong cast, we can only imagine how great this could be. However, it's early days and in Hollywood anything is possible, so who know where this could end up? Watch this space.
