Jennifer Lawrence’s new movie trailer is out of this world
Lost in space
Starring Tinseltown's most bankable names, Academy Award winner Jennifer Lawrence and Jurassic World's Chris Pratt, Passengers follows the well-worn Sci-Fi path set by Interstellar, Gravity and The Martian whereby a spacecraft on a mission malfunctions resulting in disaster for the crew on board. In this instance, Jennifer and Chris wake up 90 years too early on a spacecraft which is hurtling towards a distant colony. Cue distress signal. Directed by The Imitation Game's Oscar nominated, Morten Tyldum, the trailer builds towards an action-packed cliff hanger with romance a central driver of the dramatic zero gravity adventure.
Unlike the current crop of franchise films on offer (think: X-Men, Avengers, Batman) Passengers is a stand-alone story with no sequel or established universe to call on - which would be a risk for the studio, however they're banking on the combined star power of Jennifer who carried Sci-Fi dystopian franchise Hunger Games to record-breaking success and Chris' Sci-Fi genre cred (he killed at the box office with Guardians of the galaxy, The Lego Movie and Jurassic World), to make Passengers the must-see movie of summer.
Passengers will be released in Australia on January 1, 2017.
