It hasn't even hit cinemas yet, but already Suicide Squad is proving to be quite the little money maker. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Warner Bros is hoping to release a spinoff of the DC Entertainment film - and Margot Robbie's character Harley Quinn - is one of the main characters in the rumoured film.
While not the sole focus of this spinoff, Robbie's Harley Quinn will sit alongside a line up of female-only heroes and villains such as Batgirl, Catwoman, Birds of Prey and other Gotham City Sirens. While Warner Bros has been hush hush on the details of which characters will be in the film, we do know that Margot Robbie will be on board to produce. According to reports, the Aussie actress was the force behind this spinoff and ever since she scored the role of Harley Quinn (the Joker's girlfriend) she has been eager to develop a film for DC Entertainment's female characters.
Given Harley Quinn's popularity in the comic book world universe, the buzz surrounding Suicide Squad and Margot Robbie's It-girl status, we can see why the studio is backing this one. Not a bad effort for a 25-year old former Gold Coast girl.
