When you're the daughter of entertainment royalty it would seem logical that your celebrity parents would play your on-screen parents in a TV show, right? Wrong.

Zoë Kravitz, who plays yogi-with-a-past Bonnie on HBO's Emmy-winning miniseries Big Little Lies, is the daughter of legendary musician Lenny Kravitz and actress Lisa Bonet and although Kravitz and Bonet are no longer together (Bonet is married to Jason Momoa, a.k.a. Aquaman) surely they could put aside any lingering issues to play her on-screen parents? It would make the perfect casting.

We can just imagine Lenny, Lisa and Meryl Streep (who's joined the Big Little Lies Season 2 cast as Nicole Kidman's character's mother-in-law, Mary Louise Wright) bonding over a healthy Cali-style quinoa salad provided by the on-set craft services team.

However, it's not to be. According to The Hollywood Reporter Martin Donovan has been cast in the role of Martin Howard who will play Bonnie's (Zoë Kravitz) on-screen father in the show for its second season. Donovan is known for his role as Peter Scottson on Weeds and recent work on TV series Beyond as Isaac Frost.

As for who'll play Kravitz's mother, Lisa Bonet didn't get the call up and the role will, per The Hollywood Reporter, be played by Crystal Fox, whose credits include a role on the Oprah Winfrey Network soap opera The Haves and the Have Nots.

Bonnie's on-screen parents are an important addition to the cast, at the end of Season 1 when we found out it was Bonnie's hand that pushed Perry Wright (played by Alexander Skarsgård) to his semi-accidental death - it became clear Bonnie had suffered some type of abuse and recognised the pattern. Was it her character's father or mother that presented the same abusive tendencies as Wright? We'll have to wait until Season 2 to find out.

Guess who’s playing Zoë Kravitz’s parents on ‘Big Little Lies’ Season 2?
