Sure, you can always order UberEATS if you're craving dumplings with your Designated Survivor - but the delivery guy is hardly going to serve them to you while you kick back on your lounge and then clean up after you've finished. Watching flicks and streaming shows at home has advantages, but there's something about being in front of a huge screen in a pitch-black cinema that elevates entertainment to another level.

And Palace Cinemas, the cool kid of the screen room scene, just made the most compelling case yet for ditching the couch and heading out to the flicks.

The cinema group has just opened a stunning new cinema complex in Chippendale's revamped Central Park precinct featuring 13 cinemas - three of which are their luxury 'platinum' cinemas (like first class on a plane but without the jet lag).

With a slew of brilliant features including hand-built ergonomic leather chairs for ultimate comfort viewing, a champagne bar, an interactive wine wall offering tastings from high-end vineyards like Penfolds Grange (truly) and a beer hall - you might want to move in.

For movie-goers hitting the platinum cinemas the options get even better with in-cinema dining available from surrounding eateries like dumpling mecca Din Tai Fung.

As for what to watch, the films are Palace Cinemas' signature mix of fresh new box office blockbusters and the best indies from the international reels including Star Wars: The Last Jedi, Matt Damon's Downsizing and Armie Hammer's Call Me by Your Name.
