You know you're a child of the 90s when: You and your best friends spent sleepovers doing séances, deconstructing your school uniform into grungey-chic territory and casting love spells, trying to make your school yard crush fall in love with you. Ie: You were a total fangirl of the Craft.
Thankfully, the spell of this (oc)cult film based on the coming-of-age of a young witch and her new-found coven will soon befall an entire new generation with Sony pictures announcing a sequel to the film set 20 years after the last.
Originally starring a dream indie cast of Fairuza Balk, Skeet Ulrich and Robin Tunney, the remake looks to focus on a new set of witches-to-be. Producer Douglas Wick told Hitflix, "There will be callbacks to the original movie. So you will see there is a connection between what happened in the days of The Craft and how these young women come across this magic many years later." He continues, "Here are some young women who once again discover the power of magic and we explore their emotional lives, their wants, their fears, their longings as they become empowered." We're enchanted.
