Blake Lively has officially broken free from the chains of Gossip Girl, undergoing a complete transformation for her role as Stephanie Patrick in the upcoming mystery thriller The Rhythm Section. Posting a photo to Instagram of Lively on the set in Dublin, her husband Ryan Reynolds jokingly included the caption "#nofilter".

Lively looks more unrecognisable than ever; her signature blonde mane has been given a severe chop, with what little left covered by an oversized blue beanie, and her lean body is covered by oversized outer garments and tracksuit pants. It's more homeless than Hollywood, and a completely different side to Lively that has ever been shown on screen.

This is not the first time Livley has ditched the role of girl-next-door. Last year the actress proved that she could go beyond Manhattan's most enviable blonde in the box office hit The Shallows, and her latest film to hit cinema's, All I See Is You saw a raw stripped back version of Lively. Turning down typecast roles, in preference of playing more complex and diverse characters seems to be a trend among actresses. Fellow actress, Margot Robbie has also undergone huge transformations for her upcoming roles as Mary Queen of Scots and Tonya Harding
