From the bizarre to the brilliant - we take a look at the best and worst outfits at this year's  MTV Video Music Awards

It's the event where Kanye famously stormed the stage to steal Taylor Swift's spotlight, and the place where the world's biggest pop stars battle it out for best music videos. This year, Kanye took to the stage in an epic seven minute speech that addressed the violence in Chicago, wife Kim Kardashian, his 'Famous' video and even the Taylor Swift phone call controversy (read the full speech here), but it was really Beyoncé's year.

The singer scooped up the lion's share of accolades, including Video of the Year for 'Formation' and Best Female Video for 'Hold Up'. Rihanna, who opened the show, scored the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award and also shared Best Male Video for her work with Calvin Harris on 'This Is What You Came For'.
