Louis Vuitton takes Tokyo with a historic exhibition
Bon voyage
The luxury house has unveiled Volez, Voguez, Voyagez - Louis Vuitton in a bespoke structure in the Tokyo town of Kioicho, the site of their very first Japanese store back in 1978. On show until June 19 and curated by Olivier Saillard, the exhibition retraces Louis Vuitton's journey from 1854 to 2016, delving deep into the house's archives and revealing the strong ties with Japan, which stretches all the way back to that distinctive monogram to more recent collaborations with Japanese contemporary artists.
The exhibition kicked off with a star-studded cocktail party. Cate Blanchett, Sofia Coppola, Fan Bing Bing, Chiara Ferragni and Amanda Shadforth were all in attendance, along with Louis Vuitton's Bernard Arnault.
To celebrate the opening, the Louis Vuitton Tokyo City Guide App will be free to download for the duration of the exhibition. Heading to Japan? Download it here.
