It's only eight hours away from Sydney but Boracay in the Philippines is still a relatively untapped tropical destination. When most Aussies think tropical getaway they usually think of the other B word - Bali. However Boracay more than ticks all the island paradise boxes - it has powdery white sand, postcard perfect blue water, 5-star luxury resorts aplenty and enough bars and restaurants to satisfy your every food or cocktail whim. And best of all, you can live it up without having to break the bank.
While it's quite feasible to pamper yourself silly all day, every day (the spa at the Discovery Shores resort is particularly sublime), Boracay also offers plenty to do for those wanting to stay a little more active. You can hire jet skis and ride around the ocean as you watch the sun set; you can go parasailing and take in the whole island from above; and you can also hire yourself a sailboat complete with your own boatman for the day to check out the other surrounding islands. And if that's not enough, you could just splash around at the beach. It's pretty damn impressive after all.
