Ever wanted to stay in a real-life sandcastle? Now you can

The Sand Hostel

Site: Samantha Ledlin

We’ve seen our fair share of beachfront accommodation, but nothing compared to this

Give world champion sand sculptor, Dennis Maroud 24 tonnes of sand and what do you get? A fully functioning Sand Hostel on the Gold Coast. The sand sculptor, aptly known as 'Sandman' is working with Hostelworld and Gold Coast Tourism to create the first ever Sand Hostel.

Located on the Kurrawa Terrace, The Sand Hostel features two exclusive accommodation packages; an eight-bed dorm room, and a private double room, as well as an open lounge and bar area. The Hostel will also host food trucks, beach volleyball, surfing lessons and (of course!) sand sculpting classes.

The Sand Hostel opens to the public from September 20-22. You can win an overnight stay via Hostelworld's Facebook page, or visit the brands website to secure your bed. Those not staying at the hostel can still enjoy the beachfront lounge and bar, as well as all the beach activities on offer.
