Buro city guide: Los Cabos
Top 3 coffee shops
1. Cream Café Los Cabos
I love the interiors of this place, it's the perfect spot to relax and enjoy a hot chocolate or two... or maybe three like I did.
Las Tiendas de Palmilla 101-A , San José del Cabo
2. Baja Beans Roasting Company
A cute coffee hub that roasts their own beans in store (the smell is amazing!), but it's the Almond Croissants that will get you every time.
Carretera 19, KM 63, Pescadero
3. Manta at The Cape
Beautiful coffee with a view of the Pacific Ocean, this restaurant has an iconic name and it certainly lives up to it.
The Cape, A Thompson Hotel, Carretera Transpeninsula Km 5, Misiones del Cabo, Cabo San Lucas
Top 3 restaurants
1. Flora Farms
Put this on the top of your list! This is the hottest place to visit in Cabo right now for all the right reasons. Enjoy your meal looking out onto the organic farm while sitting amidst rows of fresh flowers. Try to make a booking around sunset to make the most of the beautiful scenery and the golden hour light.
Las Animas Bajas, San Jose del Cabo, Los Cabos
2. Manta at the Cape
Already in my pick for best coffee, Manta at the Cape is an absolute must do for all foodies, especially if you are a seafood lover. The in-house sommelier will make sure you pair your meal with the perfect wine and most importantly, will help impress your dining partner.
3. Tequila Restaurant
Classic Mexican fine dining under lights and flowering fruit trees, this place has a really special atmosphere and I can't wait to go back one day.
Manuel Doblado 1011, Downtown San José del Cabo, Los Cabos
Top 3 cocktail bars
1. The Office
Has a very "Cabo party" vibe, so even though the food is basic, it's all about the location and the cocktails. You can dine with sandy feet and watch the beautiful sunset over the peninsula while drinking fish bowl sized margaritas. Also offers an array of fun water sports directly in front of the bar making it a great place to spend the afternoon with friends.
Playa El Medano, Cabo San Lucas
2. Bar Esquina
A local hang out and lots of fun, with super-delicious Mexican cocktails on the menu and an always upbeat atmosphere.
Av. Del Pescardor S/N, El Medano, Cabo San Lucas
3. Baja Brewery
Baja Brewery is a very well-known spot in San José. A great mix of cocktails on the menu but they are best known for the beer they brew in-house. Also a fun place to dine, you can build your own pizza and enjoy good food and live entertainment.
Calle José Maria Morelos 1227, Col. Centro, San José del Cabo
The 3 best suburbs to stay
1. Cabo San Lucas
Even though the town of Cabo is very touristy, there are some beautiful hotels in the local surrounds that capture the view of Land's End, the famous Cabo Peninsula. The beaches are snowy white with turquoise blue water and are often scattered with picturesque granite boulders.
2. Palmilla near Los Cabos
This area is situated between Cabo San Lucas and San Jose. It's a little more spread out and definitely a lot less crowded. There are some beautiful private beaches that you access by boat and holidaying here is the ultimate unwind.
3. Paris Escondido
Paris Escondido takes in the western side of Land's End, at the very southern tip of the Baja Peninsula. Beautiful white beaches with a westerly aspect, quiet and only a 10 minute drive from the main township of Cabo.
Top 3 hotels
1. One&Only Palmilla
One of Cabo's best known luxury resorts. Situated near San José, it showcases incredible service, restaurants and accommodation.Vistas over the Sea of Cortez, bounded by a stunning sandy white beach, with relaxing activities in spades.
Carretera Transpeninsula Km 7.5, Centro, San José del Cabo
2. The Cape Hotel
Just out of Cabo, overlooking Land's End, this beautiful new contemporary hotel boasts the most gorgeous aspect for afternoon sunset gazing over Cabo. Family friendly, yet cool enough for couples looking for a chic experience.
Carretera Transpeninsula Km 5, Misiones del Cabo, Cabo San Lucas
A sublime open air luxury beach front resort stacked with delicious restaurants and excellent service, it's the discrete luxury destination in Baja.
Carretera Transpeninsula Km 7, Manzana 10, Punta Ballena, Cabo San Lucas
San Lucas del Cabo is only 30 minutes away from Cabo and it's here you'll find the culturally rich gallery district. There's a diverse range of galleries here with something for everyone, I particularly loved Galeria Corsica, Galeria De Ida Victoria and Patricia Mendoza Art Gallery.
Best view in the city
The best view in the city would have to be from The Cape Hotel, you just can't beat white sands and vast ocean views as the sunsets over the rock formations at Land's End.
Head to Flora Farms Market, a beautiful, tiny organic market in Cabo with local crafts and produce. It's a must do!
Best place to drop in for an exercise class
I'll be the first to admit that there was a little more margarita than muscle action when I was in Cabo... But beach Yoga at Esperanza Resort is always an amazing experience.
Best day spa
Armonia Spa is has an incredible reputation... and I have to say, it doesn't disappoint. It's on the higher end of the price spectrum but it's a once in a lifetime experience.
Pueblo Bonito Pacifica Golf & Spa Resort, Previo Paraiso Escondido Centro, Cabo San Lucas
Where to shop
Just off the town square in San José you will stumble upon a few little streets with unique boutiques, local silversmiths and authentic Mexican crafts and homewares.
3 tourist attractions you may not have heard of
1. Diving with whale sharks
Cabo San Lucas and the surrounding sea thrives with sea life. One of the most magical experiences is the snorkelling with whale sharks, there are several companies catering for this experience, they respect the natural wildlife and are able to guide you to the best locations where it is safe to dive with the whale sharks in harmony.
2. El Arco De Cabo
The famous arched portal at the end of Land's End peninsula at Cabo's southern tip is only accessible by boat. It was one of the most beautiful natural features of this area and the best way to get there is to charter a private boat for a half day to take you out to the peninsula. It's very relaxing and an excellent opportunity to view Cabo's natural marine life without getting in the water. Sunset is also a highlight, if you're able to secure a late charter.
3. Zip lining and quad biking
Wild Canyon Adventures runs a very fun business catering for holiday makers looking for a day filled with adrenaline. The tour company can pick you up from your hotel and have an assortment of super fun activities for you to try in and around Cabo including bungee jumping and even camel rides.
