Mountain Lake Lodge, set in the heart of Virginia’s Blue Ridge Mountains is the ultimate retreat for any Dirty Dancing fan

Unrequited love. There is something so compelling about two people from different worlds coming together and falling in love. It's the slight taste of rebellion combined with a strong sense of lust that women collectively yearn for. Add a dancing routine and a killer soundtrack and you have the recipe for the perfect romantic drama, and the reason why Dirty Dancing has cemented itself as a pop culture icon over so many generations.

In the summer of 1963, Frances 'Baby' Houseman set off for Kellerman's along with her sister and parents.  Although she was less than impressed about spending her entire summer there, it turned out to be a holiday she would never forget, filled with love, sex and dirty dancing. Just like that, teenage girls everywhere wanted to have the same experience, and it turns out you can.

Mountain Lake Lodge is the real-life Kellerman's, set in the heart of Virginia's Blue Ridge Mountains. Guests can stay in the front lawn cabins where Baby and the other guests at the resort stayed (these have of course been renovated). There is a springwater lake on the property and even a barn that, on occasion, hosts dance parties similar those raunchy late night rendezvous that Johnny Castle and Penny danced at.

On August 25 - 27 the resort will host a Dirty Dancing themed weekend which includes private dancing lessons, dinner and breakfast in the Harvest, and a dance party in Mary's barn. With the films 30th anniversary coming up this August, there has never been a better time to plan a girls weekend and visit.

Aside from the connotations with the film, Mountain Lake Lodge also has a lot more on offer. Guests can embark on a two mile hike through Jefferson National Forest, ending with a breathtaking view of the 66-foot waterfall. Historic downtown Blacksburg is just a just a short drive away with diverse restaurants, eclectic shops, art galleries and lively entertainment. The resort also offers a range of outdoor activities including zip-lining, zorb racing and archery tag.

While we cannot guarantee that you will meet a Patrick Swayze look alike who will perfect the movies famous lift with you, a girl can dream.
