Why is the richest family in the world scoring freebies?
If you think the world's distribution of wealth is nauseatingly unfair, perhaps you should stop reading now. As if it weren't already annoying enough that Kim Kardashian and Kanye West live the kind of lavish, extraordinarily fortunate lifestyle many of us only dream of, now we learn just how lucky they really are. This morning, reports circulated that the pair and their two tots Saint and North have been gifted the use of a 7,000 square foot penthouse in New York City's TriBeCa district.
Worth a cool US$25 million, it comes courtesy of Airbnb who clearly know the value of a social post blasted out to Kim's 81.3 million followers. And with five bedrooms, six bathrooms, seven terraces, a gym, private pool and sauna, the family of four can really spread their privileged wings in the pad. Already, Kim's doing her sponsored-post duty by tagging Airbnb in her Instagram - but she clearly hasn't abided by the new guidelines for social influencers that were released last month, even though she's already in hot water over it.
I mean, good for them, but it's not like they needed the charity, did they? Annoyingly, the news follows the extravaganza of Kylie Jenner's Airbnb-sponsored 19th birthday bash in Turks & Caicos, where the reality-TV teen was gifted use of a palatial estate worth US$50 million. Taking up six-acres, the 'house' (we use that term loosely) was spread out over three buildings and featured 23 bedrooms, a gymnasium, tennis court, sauna and two private pools. For a 19 year old's birthday party, no less. E! news shared photos of the site, just in case you wanted to feel really sad about every birthday celebration you've ever had.
As for why one of the world's richest families is scoring freebie housing, we guess it's pretty obvious. Free social posts for free accommodation clearly only equals out when you're a Kardashian, Jenner or West. Like we said earlier, this will do nothing to make you feel better about the state of the world's wealth.
