The historic Plaza Hotel’s Astor Suite is selling for HOW much?!
Estate heaven
New York's Plaza Hotel has a space up for sale - and it just so happens to be one of the most historic estates to ever become vacant in the United States. The famous Astor Suite has been home to the likes of John F. Kennedy, the Duke and Duchess of Windsor and John Jacob Astor, and on the prestigious home owners heritage alone, makes this NYC condo a real estate goldmine. But here's the thing, it's selling for $39.5 million (that's AU$51 million - just let that settle in).
The home itself is an interiors dream, and was transformed by interior architect S.R. Gmabrel Inc, who were responsible for renovating the Windsor Castle. The condo boasts 3 bedrooms, 5.5 bathrooms, a library, separate dining and living room and topped off with a million-dollar view overlooking Central Park.
According to the listing, the home also features heirloom interior details ( which has also clocked up the price), this includes hand drawn plaster ceilings, antique fireplaces, hand-hammered leather walls from France, and English oak panelling - it is truly, a work of art.
The property is currently owned by Espirit founder and former CEO Jürgen Friedrich, who bought the place in 2007 for a shy US$25 million.
So if you have a spare AU$51 million dollars hanging around, this is the place for you.
