1. The real stars of the Super Bowl revealed

2. Let Them Stay protests draw crowds across Australia
Crowds in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide, Perth, Darwin, Hobart, Canberra and other regional cities gathered to protest against the possible offshore processing of asylum seekers currently in Australia  for medical treatment. Organised by GetUp, the crowds urged the government to allow the 267 asylum seekers to stay, rather than be deported to Nauru.

3. The tax cut saga continues in Parliament
After taking the 5 per cent GST hike off the table, the government is looking at reforming the current tax breaks for super contributions and negative gearing on investment properties.

4. A study says that shark nets 'do nothing'
A new study has revealed that the shark nets used across beaches in NSW don't actually reduce your chance of a shark attack. "I can show statistically that there is no relationship between the number of sharks out there and the number of shark attacks," says Associate Professor Laurie Laurenson, citing data analysed over 50 years. The findings were presented on ABC's Four Corners.

5. Tidal donates $1.5 million to #BlackLivesMatter
In other Beyoncé-related news, Jay Z and Beyoncé's streaming service Tidal announced it would donate US$1.5 million to the Black Lives Matter movement, as well as other civil rights organisations. The profits were raised after the Tidal X: 10/20 charity concert last year.
