Now shut down, The Real Singapore is said to have been receiving as many as 13 million views per month, while its Facebook page, which attracted racist comments, had over 400,000 likes.

Takagi has been given one month to settle personal affairs before serving her sentence in Singapore. "Before this case started, I was not fully aware of the level of sensitivity needed when dealing with topics related to racial and religious issues in Singapore," she told the court. "I sincerely apologise for the harm I have caused through my actions."
