Esty is one of those weird beasts; it's filled with cross stitch, handmade jewellery and all of the DIY WTFs or "regretseys" as they're known (RIP Regretsy.com), but every once in a while a gem emerges out of the ether, a piece you never knew you needed. Case in point: This handmade hanging bed.

A little medieval, a little bit industrial - and totally innovative, Polish designer (and furniture maker, we assume)  Wiktor Jażwiec, of hangingbeds.pl has designed these suspended sleepmakers with apartment living in mind.  Available in a variety of wood finishes, the beds are completely customisable, lightweight (weighing only 80kg in their largest form) and make use of floor space without the bulkiness of a loft bed.   And they're techy too - attached to the ceiling with a series of ropes and pulleys, the bed sits 18 inches above the floor when in use and comes with a convenient automated button and remote control system that raises the base up to the roof when not being slept in. And then there's the soothing swinging action. Hammocks suddenly seem so primitive.
