Gun control is one of the most hot button topics in America with a powerful pro gun lobby relentlessly campaigning to ensure the US Constitution's Second Amendment 'right to keep and bear arms' is in play in each state in the country. But that 'right' has resulted in some of the worst shooting massacres against innocent people in history. And on Sunday night yet another devastating mass shooting took place near the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino in Las Vegas.

The New York Times reports, "...at least 59 people dead," and over 500 others have been injured by a long gunman, identified as Stephen Paddock, who was found dead in his hotel shortly after the shooting. Paddock opened fire on festival-goers attending the Route 91 Harvest country-music festival in the casino capital, no details as to motive have emerged as yet.

In an incredible show of community support, The Cut reports Las Vegas residents queued up at blood donation centres across the city as soon as the shooting was reported, ready to donate blood to help victims of the tragedy.

Celebrities including Taylor Swift, Carrie Underwood and Ariana Grande (whose recent Manchester concert was targeted by terrorists) have taken to social media to express their devastation at yet another mass shooting, see their heartfelt messages below:
