Love or loathe her, Kim Kardashian's robbery was undoubtedly one of pop culture's biggest news events in 2016. Of course, coupled with Kanye's spectacular meltdown last year, it's really the gift that keeps on giving, thanks to endless news updates about the robbery. Last week, 17 men were detained in relation to the theft and this week, French newspaper Le Journal du Dimanche has obtained the police report containing Kim's statement.
Taken immediately after the attack at around 4.30am, the full statement (read it here), contains some never-before-heard details about the ordeal. As Kim describes two masked and hooded men coming towards her we learn that they stole her BlackBerry and that they repeatedly asked about her ring. "He asked me with a strong French accent where was my ring," she says. "It was placed on the bedside table. It costs 4 million dollars." After pointing his gun at her, Kim shows him where the ring is and the rest of her jewellery and money are.
While these details are all well documented, it's the following specifics that reveal just how terrifying the robbery was. "They catched [sic] me and took me in the lobby. I was wearing a bathrobe, naked underneath. Then we went in the room again and they pushed me on the bed. And, at this time, they strapped me with plastic cables and tape on my hands, then they taped my mouth and my legs. They carried me in my bathroom, more specifically in my bathtub."
As Kim details the extensive amount of jewellery they stole from her (let's just say she owned a nice selection of Cartier, Lorraine Schwartz, Yanina, Jacob and Rolex - plus, a diamond necklace with son Saint's name on it), she estimates how much it was all worth: "I think they robbed me for 5 million dollars. They didn't rob my cash. They robbed me an iPhone 6... and the Blackberry call number. Then they left, running."
Get ready to hear this all over again when we see it air on Keeping Up With the Kardashians. Come on, you know you'll watch it... especially after they teased us last week with this tearful promo.
