If you're the type to whip out your phone before picking up your knife and fork, you know this already: food tastes better when you Instagram it. Sure, it might not be quite as piping hot as when it first landed on the table, but that's not the point - a new study has found that taking the time to post a picture enhances your appreciation of the meal in front of you.
Published in the Journal of Consumer Marketing, the study claims that Instagramming food "increases the savouring associated with consumption of pleasurable (ie indulgent) foods and, in effect, increases attitudes and taste evaluations of the experience when consumption actually takes place." The same was found with healthy foods. So you can forget the whole, 'if it's not on Instagram, it didn't happen' theory - the reality is, if you didn't Instagram it, it wasn't as good. Fact.
