Pairing cuisine with cult cinema, this open-air film event is a must-do

When it comes to cultural events, there is a perfect storm of three things that almost always guarantee an exhaustion of ticket sales: the great outdoors, films and food.  So it's no surprise that, three years on, Gourmet Cinema has been a sold out affair.

Held at Melbourne's Caulfield Racecourse, the starry event combines the city's best chefs and restaurants with cult films, served up as a relaxed picnic-led affair. Each session will feature a bespoke selection of film-inspired food and drinks from four eateries, with one headliner.  Having just announced it's 2018 line-up of films, the event will take place over eight days in March (a nice way to round off the long nights of summer, no?), with tickets on sale January 15. So consider this your fair warning to save the date...

The partnering restaurants are still to be announced but the films on show for 2018 are:

Little Miss Sunshine

Top Gun

Before Midnight

La La Land

The Lost Boys

Vicky Cristina Barcelona

Gourmet Cinema 2018, March 1- 11 March 2018;  tickets on sale Monday 15th January, $22 (non-reserved grass) and $35 (reserved seating, including blanket), Caulfield Racecourse, Gate 22, Station Street, Caulfield, Victoria.
