Milanese design extraordinaire Franceso Binfaré is responsible for the latest incarnation of the humble couch, now available in Australia and ready to turn living rooms into the infinitely more sophisticated-sounding lounge rooms across the country.

The Absolu, designed by Binfaré for Edra, debuted at Salone del Mobile, Milan's annual design fair, back in April and is now launching into luxury furniture stores across the world. Destined to become an icon just like the Edra sofas Standard, On the Rocks and Sfatto before it, the Absolu is set apart from the masses by way of a brass socket (plated in gold, palladium or ruthenium, the choice is yours) that allows you to connect a malleable Smart Pillow to create your own added backrest or armrest. The couch can be configured as a modular, standalone or curved design, with seats available in different shapes, sizes and depths.
Consider it the ultimate couch for a Netflix and chill session, but one that also looks a million bucks (provided you aren't lounging on it, remote in one hand and wine in the other, with a bowl of Maltesers perched on your lap). Find it at spacefurniture.com.au/edra.
