It's late at night and you're watching a movie on TV. All of a sudden you remember that half eaten tub of Ben and Jerry's in the freezer. That's it. Now it's all you can think about. Before you know it you're back on the couch, ice cream tub in one hand, spoon in the other. It feels like a battle you will nearly always lose. And when you're tired, it's late and there are no real options to distract yourself - it's almost impossible NOT to give in.

Food cravings are a part of life. Most, if not ALL of us have them at some point. Whether it's craving a creamy brie cheese with crackers or a tub of salted caramel ice cream, WHAT we crave is far less important than WHY we crave. The problem is, our health conscious culture has us believing that all cravings are bad. The reason for this, is that the foods we crave do not typically sit at the top of any dietician's food list (have you ever craved carrots?). They are labelled as "bad" foods, or "unhealthy foods". What this means is that by craving these foods, and eating them - we inevitably feel "bad" and "unhealthy". Bring on the guilt!
