After closing the doors to his fabled canteen Kitchen by Mike in 2015, Mike McEnearney left a gaping hole in Sydney's thriving café scene. And even though he's been servicing Sydney's CBD with No. 1 Bent St for the last six months or so, he's bringing the canteen back to the Harbour city with the opening of Kitchen by Mike at the Sydney Airport international terminal. Yep, you heard us - killing time at the airport just got so much more appealing...
Boasting 90 seats, the eatery will open its doors in mid-February and settle in next to Wolfgang Puck's newly established The Bistro and beer haven Heineken House. Set to feature an all-day menu, like the eatery at the former Rosebery address, Kitchen by Mike will dish up fresh and seasonal produce in the form of mouth-watering salads and roast vegies, plus meats like wood roasted chicken, mackerel or Kurobutta ham.
And - this is our favourite bit - you can even take a piece of Kitchen by Mike's health-conscious snacks on the plane with you. The eatery will offer Fly By Mike carry on tray packs which can be customised according to your tastebuds (goodbye disgusting plane food). Also on offer are homemade cakes, puddings, seasonal fruit and health drinks like cold-pressed juice and kombucha. We. Can't. Wait.
Kitchen by Mike will be located at Sydney Airport T1 International, Pier B between Gates 10-24. Open for breakfast, lunch and dinner: 6.00am - 10.00pm.
