Picture the scene: You're all set for a cosy Friday night in but don't have any red wine to go with your chocolate. And you're already in your pyjamas. Or perhaps you're kicking back with a few beachside sundowners but there's not enough bubbly to go round. Or - the horror - you're hosting a house party and your supply is dangerously close to running out. Cue Wine Run, an express alcohol delivery service launching today.
Wine Run promises to deliver the goods every night of the week, within 30 minutes of your order. They use scooters to zip around town and deliver to any location, be it your home, picnic location or beach. Their 70-strong wine list has been carefully edited by founder Daniel Sofo, who owns Firefly in Neutral Bay and The Italian in Willoughby. Also on the menu? Beer, ciders, bubbly and spirits, along with - wait for it - Messina gelato, Pringles and Lindt chocolate. They also sell handy extras like mixers, limes and lemons.
The catch? At this stage, Wine Run is only available on Sydney's lower north shore. But it isn't the only on-demand alcohol service around town - it joins Quick Bottle and Liquor Drop, which both operate across the CBD, inner west, the east and lower north shore; Dial-a-Drink, in Manly and (strangely) Jindabyne; Jimmy Brings, which drives to the CBD, eastern suburbs and inner west and Liquor Run, which operates in Melbourne, Brisbane and Sydney.
