If there's one great thing about winter (aside from soup and open fireplaces), it's the fact that it officially marks the beginning of truffle season. If you're anything like us, you'll share a predilection for the bold, earth-toned flavour it brings to any dish, and can appreciate the lengths one must go to obtain such a delicacy.
Now that the truffle season is officially upon us, Keystone venues has partnered with Australian provider Madame Truffles and Fletcher Wines to bring you a host of truffle themed dinners, lunches and special events over the next six weeks.
For six weeks (from June 15 to the end of July), ingenious chefs from The Winery, Gazebo, The Rook, Manly Wine, Kingsley's Woolloomooloo and Chophouse bring you truffle-themed delights, paired perfectly with a specially selected Fletcher Wines drop: 2014 'Minion' Australian Nebbiolo. See below for a list of events on offer at Truffle Tribe:
Every Wednesday (June 15-July 27) you can sample the Cheese Truffle Dego - a $75 five-course degustation menu with matching wines ($95). Madame Truffles will also be on hand on selected Wednesdays from 6-8pm. Head to thegazebo.com.au to reserve a place.
On Thursdays (June 16-July28), you can select from a variety of dishes which hero the truffle, such as seared scallops, whipped cauliflower, truffles, quail's egg and crispy pancetta; or roast duck breast, truffles, mushroomcream, Jerusalem artichoke, enokia and red wine - yum.
A trip to the CBD rooftop bar and dining room gives you the option to 'Pimp Your Burger & Fries' aka add a sprinkle of truffle to your burger or lobster roll of choice.
As of July 14, the harbourside eatery introduces a truffle-heavy menu filled with delights such as Wagyu bresaola, crisp hen's egg, truffled onion cream (saubise) and baby basil, sea scallop tartare, celeriac cream and truffles; and Truffled brie d'nangis with quince compote and fruit spelt crisps.
