As the seasons change what's available produce-wise and also what we feel like eating is also on the change up - where summer is all about the light, fresh salad (because: bikinis) once the days start to get shorter and there's a distinct nip in the air all we want is deliciously warm, comfort food. Which is where seaside beauty Catalina comes in. Since the launch of the new autumn menu last week, executive chef Mark Axisa says they've been, "booked out every day, both at our lunch and dinner settings..." Which makes sense when you hear what's on it: Canadian scallops served in a creamy cauliflower soup with salmon caviar and charred silverbeet, pork belly ragout with house-made pasta, rare seared tuna, and classic Sunday roast of lamb with colourful autumn vegetables.
The colder weather also affects how we crush our thirst and Catalina really delivers with their limited edition autumn cocktail menu. Stacked with seasonal flavours like figs, apricots, ginger and pear, pared with heart-warming spiced rum, gin and vodka - a cocktail on the Catalina deck is a must-do. Our pick? The Catalina La Pera a toe-tingling combination of Grey Goose vodka, house-made ginger and pear syrup, mezcal and bitters.
Catalina is located at Lyne Park, Rose Bay. Open every day for lunch from 12pm and from 6pm for dinner, Monday - Saturday.
