The Hunter Valley wants you to eat ALL the cheese and drink ALL the wine (responsibly, of course) in the months of May and June (but by all means, continue your consumption beyond their designated time frame). Why? In the name of NSW's most decadent celebration, the annual Hunter Valley Wine & Food Festival. The name says it all.
This epic two-month-long event showcases the Hunter's renowned local produce through over 70 epicurean events over May and June. If you were planning on booking a weekend away, now's the time to do it.
Check winecountry.com.au for a full list of what's happening, with events including everything from winemakers masterclasses to behind-the-scenes vineyard tours, copious cheese tasting and of course, wine. One highlight is the Burning of the Barrel at Glandore Estate on Saturday June 25, an annual bonfire night that we imagine morphs into a party of Bacchanalian proportions.
