Taste the rainbow: Celebrate Mardi Gras with these cult eats
This weekend sees Sydney's biggest party, The Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras hit the streets, in all its glittering, rainbow glory. And in honor of the celebration, two of the city's most loved kitchens have launched special edition menu items to sink your teeth into.
This Saturday and Sunday, March 5-6, Doughnut Time will have a very special, and very limited edition delight on their Sydney shelves. "Priscilla, Queen of the Doughnut" is a technicolour wonder of bright rainbow glaze, glitter and shimmer with a classic base. Although the chain has recently opened up more locations (hello Newtown and Glebe), that dosen't mean these little beauties won't sell out.
If that's not tempting enough, go for something more substantial and head to Mary's Burgers in Newtown, CBD and The Unicorn Hotel in Paddington because the Fairy's Burger is back. For one dollar extra, you can douse your burger in hundreds and thousands and for every dollar, Mary's will match it and the proceeds will be donated to an LGBTIQ charity (last year's donations went to Twenty10 and Camp Out).
