

Sydney's best pork buns have arrived in the CBD

You used to have to wait until after work or the weekend for the eatery's famous pan-fried pork buns and spring onion pancakes, but not anymore: this week New Shanghai opens in Westfield Sydney, frying up (and steaming, for the calorie conscious) their wait-in-line-worthy dishes for the CBD crowd.

The Pitt Street New Shanghai is the largest in Australia and has dumplings master Neo Nee (he of Lotus Dumpling Bar, the Walsh Bay eatery that's become the discerning theatre-goers' pre-show essential) heading up the kitchen. The menu will have all the favourites plus specials exclusive to the CBD and a food and wine pairing menu - did someone say Friday lunch?

The move into the city sees New Shanghai move into Din Tai Fung's territory as the new dumplings king: the chain already has uber-popular restaurants in Bondi Junction, Chatswood and Ashfield in Sydney, as well as Newcastle, Melbourne and Brisbane.
