Sydney's new vegan hub has it all (except, um, dairy and meat)

Sydney is on the verge of a vegan revolution - and nowhere is the shift more obvious than North Bondi, which has not one, not two, but over five vegan eateries

Paleo seems very 2014 now, doesn't it? The shine's worn off Pete Evans and his caveman culinary tastes, but that's not to say we've had our fill of weird and wonderful diets - Australians are more conscious of what they put in their mouths now than ever before. Raw treats reign supreme, almond milk is the new macchiato and established restaurants are launching 100 per cent vegan menus.

Predictably, Newtown has led the way - King Street's Gigi's Pizza, and Gelato Blue  have recently switched to permanently vegan offerings, while Bliss & Chips and Suzy Spoon's Vegetarian Butcher have always been that way.

But recently we've noticed it's harder to find a café making coffee with normal milk (you know, the kind cows make? It used to be a thing) in North Bondi than it is to find the coconut, almond, macadamia or cashew variety. More than five vegan cafes now call the sliver of a suburb home - find your new favourite in the gallery above.
