Can't get to New York's famous Momofuku Milk Bar? Surry Hills now has the next best thing
Cereal cafes. They're the latest nostalgic food trend sweeping our cities and our social feeds, and Sydney is finally getting in on the action. Cult-fave café Kawa has partnered up with Kellogg's to take its customers on a milky, crunchy, sugary trip down memory lane, for just one week starting Tuesday April 19.
They're not simply serving bowls of cereal (although they're available for $3.80 a pop), but a full menu of Kawa dishes incorporating your childhood breakfast staples, from a gluten-free breakfast salad of kale, spinach, green apple, Gluten-Free Special K, buckwheat, avocado and a poached egg to the Corn Flakes-crusted chicken burger.
Sweet treats include Froot Loop cakes with cereal milk icing, Nutri-Grain Edge oat biscuits with peanuts, cashews and salted caramel cream filling, cereal milk thickshakes and Coco Pops creamy hot chocolate. If there was ever a week to skip your usual avo on toast for breakfast, this is it. For opening hours, head to openforbreakfast.com.au.
