We can swirl and sniff our way around a glass of red with the best of them and can even talk tequila notes (yes, food snobbery is something of an occupational hazard), but when it comes to saké, we're a little bit stumped - does a kozaemon junmai tokubetsu pair best with salmon nigiri or kingfish jalapeno? *shrugs shoulders*

All will be revealed at Saké Restaurant & Bar's new Saké & Sashimi masterclasses, held daily for groups of four or more at both The Rocks and Double Bay locations. Under the guidance of Saké's resident experts, you'll sip your way to enlightenment, learning to detect the different flavours of various drops and how to best pair saké with traditional sushi and sashimi dishes - which you'll be sampling as you go.

There are three masterclasses to choose from: basic, at $65pp, includes four sakés paired with snapper, tuna, salmon and unagi sashimi and nigiri sushi; premium, $95pp, which takes in six sakés paired with slightly more upmarket sashimi (scallop and scampi included) and deluxe, $125pp, which gives you an additional two sakés to taste or the option to take a bottle home. Bookings are essential at sake.com.au.
