Skipping the main and going straight to dessert is firmly on the agenda with the opening of Luke Stack's Crumble Top dessert bar on buzzy King Street in Newtown. Calling on his two years experience as sous chef under culinary super star Gordon Ramsay in London, Stack has perfected the art of the humble dessert crumble and is bringing this throwback comfort food into the mainstream.

In a twist on the usual dessert bar scenario (they bake it, you buy it) Crumble Top is a choose-your-own-adventure style of dining where you select the filling from a seasonally-based range (apple, berry, mixed fruit), then the crumble topping (peanut butter, chocolate and almond, coconut and ginger) and finally the sides (ice cream, sauce, custard) to create your dream after-dinner crumble. The Crumble Top team will then bake your custom dessert, so it's piping hot out of the oven, just like Nanna used to make it. And if you just can't leave the couch in the middle of a marathon Walking Dead sesh (we hear you), you can still get the good crumble via delivery from your local Uber Eats or Deliveroo driver.
