A favourite of food stylists and top chefs across the city, gourmet Italian providore Salt Meats Cheese (yes, it's that warehouse you've wondered about while brunching at The Grounds) is now open for dinner.

Aptly named The Pizza Box, the tiny pizzeria is crammed into a shipping container within the Salt Meats Cheese warehouse, serving wood-fired pizza (they shipped the oven direct from Naples), cured meats, arancini and Italian desserts (Nutella bomb, anyone?).

What The Pizza Box lacks in size it makes up for in flavour - chefs take their pick from Salt Meats Cheese's impressive selection of imported cheeses for pizza toppings and pair them with gourmet ingredients - think lobster tail with fontina, wagyu with parmegiano reggiano and caramalised Spanish onion with scarmoza.

Must try: authentic Italian pizza right next door to The Grounds

The Pizza Box is open every night from 6pm-10pm and if you shop during the store's extended opening hours you get 20 per cent off your Salt Meats Cheese purchases.

Locals can head down to The Pizza Box from 4pm on Sunday May 3 for a free pizza tasting to celebrate the opening. Find The Pizza Box at 41 Bourke Road, Alexandria; saltmeatscheese.com.au.
