Chinese chow has long been a favourite cuisine for Aussies - back in the day the only place to eat out was either a Chinese restaurant or a Chinese/Australian restaurant sporting chicken chow mein on one side of the menu and surf 'n' turf on the other. And that taste legacy lives on with our never-ending hunger for all things dim sum-related but as it's definitely not a cuisine we're confident to DIY at home, we need eat-out options - which is where China Diner comes in.

This epic eatery has been a local favourite of the laid back Bondi set since it opened, proving so popular the team have opened a second location in revamped restaurant destination, Kiaora Lane in Double Bay. And like its Bondi sister the menu is a fresh, mod take on traditional Cantonese with Executive Chef Jack James Steer creating a must-eat list of healthy, light Eastern share-style offerings.

Dishes include designer dumplings, pork bao with apple and carrot kimchi, chicken and sesame 'chiko' spring rolls with plum sauce, five spice duck pancakes, pork belly with chilli, caramel and lime, and the always-classic chicken and sweet corn soup. The after dark crowd are well catered for too with a slew of killer cocktails on the list flavoured with tastes of the Orient like the lemongrass and coconut sour - an electric concoction of lemongrass infused Wyborowa vodka, citrus and coconut foam.
