Meet A Girl Called Jayne, Elwood’s Insta-worthy new café
Hotspot
The café culture down in Melbourne is strong to say the least but there's always room to cement that strong position as Australia's top city to coffee, brunch and lunch. And the opening of Elwood's Instagrammable new café, A Girl Called Jayne is a prime example of how good their café game really is.
Taking over the corner location formerly occupied by the Turtle Café on Glen Huntly and Ormond Roads, A Girl Called Jayne looks set to become a local favourite. Serving breakfast, lunch, coffee (of course), cold pressed juices and sodas - there's something for everyone at anytime of the day.
The menu is a mod Oz mix of Mediterranean, Japanese and a chic French twist thanks to venue manager Yannick Beaucaine's time spent in a slew of top-notch French restaurants including Michelin-starred Paris institution, Le Jules Verne.
Delish dishes cover all flavour and diet preferences ranging from decadent brûlée French toast to healthy Eastern-inspired fare like the butternut pumpkin hummus with Japanese pumpkin and a marinated Japanese soft-boiled egg to eggs any style served on fresh-baked organic bread.
A Girl Called Jayne is located at 34 Glen Huntly Rd, Elwood, Melbourne. Open Monday to Sunday 7am - 4pm. agirlcalledjayne.com
