One of the earth's greatest naturally occurring delicacies, truffles are a prize among chefs and foodies alike. Loved for their earthy, unique taste and smell (and the fact that they require a dog to harvest them), their method of cultivation is both fascinating and unlike any other food we know. The fungus starts growing in late summer and matures over autumn, so if you're a clever observer of the date - this means that truffles are currently in season.

To mark the special occasion, Melbourne-based specialist retailer Madame Truffles has opened up shop for winter. Selling a large range of fresh truffles sourced from WA, Tasmania, NSW and Victoria, for the first time this year, Madam Truffles will be available to purchase from Sydney.

The Sydney pop up is located in Surry Hills' Riley Street is open for 10 weeks from June 26. Selling all manner of truffle-infused products - from ice-cream (yes, really) to honey, salt and popcorn Madame Truffles also has a pop up currently running in South Melbourne's Yarra Place until September 6.
