Perched up on the first floor of the building that straddles Redfern and George streets sits Redfern's newest bar, Misfits. Headed by the hospitality thoroughbreds behind The Glenmore, The Australian Heritage Hotel and The Tudor Redfern, Misfits exudes a local publican vibe, but the similarities stop there. The bar itself comprises of five different retro spaces, cleverly created within one venue.

If you follow the neon sign and the floor-to-ceiling poster of Twiggy to the bar you'll find a selection of local, craft beers on tap. The bar offers an impressive list of wines and champagnes, among single malt whiskies and classic cocktails with a Misfits twist; think smoked Paloma and chilli margaritas.

The menu has been assembled by Group Executive Chef, James Privett, delivering casual dining options that work for bar snacking, all the way through to long lunches and dinners. "I've been able to play with some new flavour combinations and styles to create a menu that we believe offers something different... Don't panic though, there's still a burger! It's stocked with smoked cheese, house-made relish and a hunk of crispy fries."

Along with burgers, the menu boasts smoky beef tartare with charcoal crisps, pressed chicken terrine, capsicum relish & chipotle. There are also classic dishes like a double roast lamb cutlet and mustard crumbed lamb breast.

Vegetarians have been covered too, with roasted Jerusalem artichokes, zucchini, herbed ricotta, celeriac and a dusting of toasted nori powder or fried silken tofu and seasonal baby vegetables.

Misfits is located on level 1, 106 George Street, Redfern.
