Is cactus water the new coconut water?
Buro daily
With all the beauty and health benefits you would expect with a hip new superfood craze - skin-revitalising antioxidants, 5 types of electrolytes, anti-inflammatories - and lower in sugar and calories than most coconut water and aloe juice drinks, the water extracted from the prickly pear cactus fruit may soon see coconut water rivalled as the discerning hipster's drink of choice.
Long considered a medicinal elixir in Mexico and South America, cactus juice's taste is refreshing and not completely unlike watermelon juice and, thanks to its extreme hydrating properties, makes it the perfect base for summer cocktails as much as for a hangover cure the next day. Our suggestion? Try it as an alternative to lemon juice in your margarita and test the theory yourself.
