Even for us, bona fide lovers of burgers, pushers of the patties, hamburger hustlers, the between-the-buns overload is getting pretty ridiculous. Pretty much every other day sees a new burger bar open or a new incarnation on the humble hamburger launch. But when it comes to a burger that costs more than a month's worth of rent (in Melbourne, lol not you, Sydney), that is pretty rare.

Enter Netherland local Diego Buik. The ex-SoHo House London chef was the winner of the 2015 best burger in Rotterdam  and is now the proud creator of the world's most expensive burger. With a pricetag of a cool $3400(AUD), Buik has created the burger to end all burgers. It features Japanese dry-aged Wagyu beef, Oosterschelde lobster infused with Dutch Hermit gin, Foie gras, white truffle, Remeker cheese, Japanese fruit tomatoes and caviar, all topped with a gold-leaf, saffron brioche bun.

We should point out that the current holder of the Guinness World Record's most expensive burger is actually worth $6600 (AUD), but the difference is Buik's burger is a single serve, whereas the current holder, Juicy's Outlaw Grill in Oregon, USA weighs over 352kg. So even though it doesn't carry the "record" it is the most expensive burger one can smugly chomp on alone.
