Laughably retro name aside, who doesn't crave a bite of the crumbly, vanilla-and-caramel flavoured Golden Gaytime in summer? One of Australia's most beloved Streets creations, the Golden Gaytime gets a cheeky new makeover just in time for Australia day this month. Taking the form of a pop-up Crumb Shed hosted at Topshop Topman in Sydney and Melbourne, lovers of all things sweet score the chance to try one of five new creations.
Each item pays tribute to the Gaytime's crumbly goodness - and all are handmade to order by a Gaytime crumb technician for just $6 a pop. With names like Unicorn Breath (vanilla crumb, musk sticks, strawberry hard candy, popping candy, edible glitter), Crumb Choc Millionaire (chocolate crumb, smashed potato crisps, desiccated coconut, 100s & 1000s, edible glitter), Chocopalooza (chocolate crumb, lolly bananas, 100s & 1000s) and Golden Chief's Salty Gaytime (vanilla crumb, pretzel bits, salted caramel drizzle), you can bet they'll be worth the sugar high. And if you're a classic kinda person, don't miss The OG-G - the original Gaytime, supercharged with extra crumbs.
Can't get to Topshop Topman in the Sydney CBD or Melbourne Emporium next week? Golden Gaytime have the next best thing - crumbs you can take home. Streets are releasing the Crumb Tin as well, which means you can gorge yourself on Gaytime crumbs in the privacy of your own home. Don't say we didn't warn you.
The Golden Gaytime Crumb Shed hits Topshop Topman's Gowings store in Sydney on Wednesday, January 18 and Topshop Topman's Emporium store in Melbourne on Friday, January 20.
