Buzo has been the local Italian go-to for well-heeled Woollahra-ites and their dining companions for years, but slowly and quietly head chef Jason Dean (ex fine diner est.) alongside sous chef Chris Cho (ex Oscillate Wildly) has been transitioning the menu from traditional continental to mod Oz. The evolution is now complete with a brand spanking new name, Jersey Rd. Bistro stamped on the door and an updated menu reflecting their casual, lighter more affordable modern Australian offering.
Diehard Buzo fans need not feel the familiar heart sink when a fave eatery changes, the mouth-watering menu delivers the same/same exceptional quality but with fresher, local flavours. Dining delights include red cabbage crackers and parmesan custard; scallop carpaccio; cured wagyu tartare; classic roasted lamb rump with potato, zucchini and mint; crispy skinned duck breast with pumpkin, date, quinoa and parsley.
And if it's too hard to choose just one entrée and one main, they've got you covered with a seven course degustation for $75pp. They're also bringing the long, lazy brunch back with a special Sunday brunch menu featuring inventive dishes like fried duck egg, whole glazed ham hock, mushroom omelette all washed with a freshly squeezed juice, bloody Mary or glass of French fizz. There's also a dedicated bar serving up sparkling cocktail sips and bar food (think: fried kipfler potatoes) from 5pm until the midnight witching hour.
Jersey Rd. Bistro is now open and is located at 3 Jersey Road, Woollahra. Open for dinner Tuesday - Saturday from 5pm and Sunday brunch 10am - 3pm.
