The East Village Hotel in inner city Sydney has been undergoing a major revamp under the experienced hands of the Goodtime Hospitality group with the first two spaces - the Athletic Club (an old-school sports bar, think Chesterfield chairs as far as the eye can see) and Public Bar (a mod, minimalist wine bar) - already open. And now the third space, the Terrace, is finally open for business.
With 100 square metres of prime rooftop space showing off dazzling million dollar Sydney skyline views, the Terrace is the major new venue to set your good time GPS towards. The four flights of stairs to access the venue are completely worth the cardio with an urban garden oasis to greet you. Designer décor and retractable roof mean stylish sipping no matter the weather. And as for the food, forget the traditional carb-load pub grub, the Terrace is a casual, share and share alike slew of fresh summer offerings courtesy of Exec Chef Tom Kime (Ceru, Fish & Co.), think: oysters with chilli and ginger, gazpacho soup with blue swimmer crab, burrata with roasted baby heirloom tomatoes and crispy bread, tataki of beef and for the sweet of tooth, hot doughnuts.
But apart from the million dollar views and the nosh, let's get real - you're here for the drinks. With a killer cocktail list curated by Lee Potter Cavanagh and Reece Griffiths you know you're in for some seriously good sips. Standouts include a 'seasonal mimosa' currently pairing Prosecco with watermelon, the powerhouse 'queen bee', a combo of Absolut Vodka, St. Germain elderflower liqueur, Regal Rogue Lively white vermouth, pineapple, lemon, blood orange and honey. And to keep the summer vibes strong the Terrace will be running holiday cocktails each month with flavours from around the world - Mexico is up first (hello margaritas).
The Terrace at East Village is located at 234 Palmer St, Darlinghurst and is open this week 6-10pm Wednesday and Thursday, 11am-10pm Friday to Sunday. From 21 November it will open 11am-10pm, Monday to Sunday. eastvillagesydney.com.au
